Whitesnake, live report e video intervista esclusiva a Michele Luppi

Ho dovuto aspettare 25 anni per rivedere i Whitesnake (prima volta Monsters of Rock, Bologna 1990) e lo show all’Hard Rock Live di Orlando (Florida), un gioiello di venue in cui la visuale e l’acustica sono perfetti da ogni angolazione, ha ampliamente ripagato la lunga attesa.
Ad aprire la serata i Dead Daises, fondamentalmente una super band con John Corabi, Richard Fortus, Marc Mendoza, Dizzy Reed, Brian Tichy e David Lowy che hanno saputo accendere i presenti con una solida ed energetica performance, che vale assolutamente la pena di vedere!
Alle 21 circa, su un palco senza fronzoli predominato dal colore viola, ha preso vita, sulle potenti note di ” Burn”, uno dei concerti piu’ belli a cui abbia assistito in vita mia. Come sappiamo David Coverdale ha sempre avuto un gusto molto raffinato nello scegliere i membri della sua band,e anche stavolta non ha deluso affatto mettendo insieme due chitarristi del calibro di Reb Beach e Joel Hoekstra, l’amatissimo Tommy Aldridge (batteria) gradito e atteso ritorno nella line-up, Michele Luppi (tastiere) dall’entusiasmo senza pecche e di una disponibilità e professionalità rare, visto che ci ha concesso un’intervista video esclusiva nel backstage prima dell’inizio del concerto(tastiere) e il giovane e talentuoso Michael Devin (basso).
Mr. D.C., come viene chiamato nell’ambiente, ha fatto bella mostra della sua forma smagliante e della sua carica seducente sempre al top, favorita da una voce graffiante e vellutata che riesce sempre ad accarezzare un pubblico in deliro che lui dimostra di amare incondizionatamente, intrattenendolo col suo carisma senza età e la sua nota ironia.
A supporto del bellissimo “Purple Album”, lo show porta in giro per il mondo i pezzidell’era Coverdale nei Deep Purple, alternandoli alle super hit della discografia dei Whitesnake. Dall’inizio, alle note finali di “Still of the night”, passando per pezzi come Slide It In, Mistreated, Holy Man,The Gispy, Love ain’t no stranger, Is this love, Here I Go Again e ad assoli di livello galattico, ogni canzone e’ magica e ogni accordo un’emozione unica.
Il palco minimal, la scaletta coinvolgente, la tecnica e la personalità di ogni membro della band,le luci, l’acustica, hanno fatto di questo show un evento imperdibile di puro, vero,magico, inimitabile rock n roll ! Amici italiani, non perdetevi assolutamente il concerto dei Whitesnake, che saranno nel nostro Paese il prossimo novembre.

It’s been 25 years (1990) since I saw my first Whitesnake concert at the Monsters of Rock show, in Bolonga. My wait to see their show again came to an end when I attended their concert at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, a jewel of a venue where the view and the acoustics are perfect from every angle. Everything about that night amply repaid the long wait!
Opening the evening was a fantastic band called the Dead Daises, made up of John Corabi, Richard Fortus, Marc Mendoza, Dizzy Reed, Brian Tichy and David Lowy. Their strong and energetic performance was more than enough to get the audience warmed up. They are definitely worth seeing!
At about 9pm, on a no-frills stage dominated by the color purple, everything came to life to the powerful tune of “Burn”. The perfect beginning to one of the best concert I’ve seen in my life. It has been proven over the years that David Coverdale has always had a very refined taste in choosing the members of his band. Once again he did not disappoint at all. He decorated the stage with two amazing guitarists such in Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, the welcome return of Tommy Aldridge on drums, Michele Luppi with his impeccable enthusiasm on keyboards, and the young talent of Michael Devin on bass.
Mr. D.C…. as he is called behind the scenes, created a spectacular show with its execution and seductive energy. He was at the top of his game with his velvety voice that caressed the audience and he never failed to show his unconditional love for his audience while entertaining them with his ageless charm and his infamous irony.
The tour is in support of the beautiful “Purple Album”, which brings to the stage legendary songs from David Coverdale’s time with the band Deep Purple, alternated with the super hits of Whitesnake’s discography. From the beginning of the show, through songs like “Slide It In”, “Mistreated”, “The Gypsy”, “Love Ain’t No Stranger”, “Is This Love”, “Here I Go Again”, galactic guitar and drum solos, to the final note of “Still of the Night”, each song came across as magical and every chord portrayed and unique display of emotion.
The minimal stage, the set list, the technique and personality of each member of the band, the lights, and the acoustics made this show a must see for those that seek pure, true, magical, rock n roll!
To my Italian friends, do not miss this concert when it arrives in Milan on November 29, 2015.
