Neon Trees, live report e gallery

Venerdì 10 luglio, una tranquilla notte d’estate a Orlando, Florida, mentre Orange Avenue si preparava ad una serata intima con una delle band più energiche del pop. La sede scelta è stato il Beacham Theater, dove hanno suonato molte band, da Steel Panther a Andy Grammer. Il Beacham è un posto buio e cupo, che non scoraggia certo gli appassionati.
Ad aprire ai Neon Trees sono stati i Fictionist e i Coin, che hanno sicuramente contribuito a scaldare l’atmosfera. Sono arrivata quando i Fictionist stavano finendo il loro set, ma da quello che ho potuto capire, la band di Provo, UT è stata molto energico e sembrava sinceramente amare quello che stavano facendo. Il loro set per quello che ho sentito dalla gente, è stato ottimo. Dopo i Fictionist sono saliti sul palco i Coin – da Nashville, TN, una band che è esattamente il contrario di quello che si potrebbe pensare riferendosi a “Nashville”.
Il gruppo è composto da quattro giovani uomini che si presentano con un’ attitudine californiana e con pezzi indie-pop. Parte del pubblico presente sembrava apprezzare e conoscere alcuni loro brani, cosa questa che ha alimentato fortemente la grinta dalla band on stage. A un certo punto, il cantante della band ha detto che è stato davvero difficile a volte per essere così lontano da casa, ma vedendo che i tifosi in questo modo ricorda loro perché essi svolgono e amano ciò che fanno. Ovviamente nessuna dele band sopradette era amata e attesa come gli headliner, i Neon Trees.
I Neon Trees sono Tyler Glenn (voce), Chris Allen (chitarra), Brandon Campbell (basso), Elaine Bradley, che è anche incinta di 8 mesi! (batteria), e David Charles (chitarra). Originari di Provo, UT, la band ha raggiunto il successo commerciale con il loro primo album, Habits, nel 2010. Il loro secondo album, Picture Show, è stato pubblicato nel 2012, ma poco dopo la band ha deciso di interrompere il loro tour, per problemi di salute di Tyler L’anno dopo però sono tornati più carichi di prima con il loro nuovo album Pop Psychology. Una volta che la band è tornato l’anno successivo però, erano più che mai con il loro Psicologia album pop, e sono sempre stati in giro per concerti da allora, in tour con i Thirty Seconds to Mars, i Duran Duran, The Killers, e Maroon 5, per poi iniziare il loro “An Intimate Night Out”. La band ha aperto il concerto di Orlando con il loro nuovo singolo, “Songs I Can’t Listen To”, attirando l’attenzione del pubblico. Tyler ha indossato una giacca oro metallico e calciato verso il cielo più volte nel corso dei brani tra “Animal”, “Surrender”, “1983”, “Moving In The Dark”, “Sleeping With A Friend”, “Lessons in Love”, e per chiudere “Everybody Talks”.
Circa a metà dello spettacolo, Tyler si è seduto sul bordo del palco e ha iniziato a parlare con i fans, spiegando di essere stato “un ragazzo molto depresso e strano strano ragazzo che era nell’armadio per un tempo molto lungo”, e come vedere il volto di ogni singolo membro del pubblico che reagisce alla musica veramente lo colpisce. E ‘stato piacevole vedere una band che apprezza profondamente il sostegno dei loro seguaci, e ho sempre rispetto un’artista più quando raggiungono fuori per le persone che hanno contribuito a raggiungere il successo che hanno avuto lungo la strada. Neon Trees è sicuramente una band da vedere dal vivo. La loro energia contagiosa vi farà ballare, non importa quanti anni hai, perché la loro musica trascende l’età e invece spinge a destra per l’anima con emozione e pura esperienza.

Friday, July 10 was a calm summer night in Orlando, FL, and Orange Avenue was stagnant in anticipation of an intimate night out with one of pop’s most energetic bands. The venue of choice was the Beacham Theater, where bands anywhere from Steel Panther to Andy Grammer have played. The Beacham has a dark, covert atmosphere to it, but that sure does not stop fans from rightfully dancing along to the beat and enjoying the music in front of them.
Opening up for Neon Trees were bands Fictionist and Coin, who definitely pumped up the ambiance in the beginning of the night. I arrived as Fictionist was ending their set, but from what I could tell, the band from Provo, UT was very energetic and genuinely seemed to love what they were doing. Their set sounded great as well, from what I heard of it. The second band – Coin – from Nashville, TN, is a band that is quite the opposite of what you would think of when you hear “Nashville”.
The group consists of four young men who have a ‘California-cool’ vibe and quite the indie-pop atmosphere about them. Many audience members seemed to know the band’s songs quite well, which made for a very inviting experience for them. At one point, the band’s lead singer mentioned that it was really hard sometimes to be so far away from home, but that seeing the fans in this manner reminds them of why they perform and love what they do. Of course, no band of the night seemed as appreciative of their fans as did the headliner, Neon Trees.
Neon Trees is a band consisting of members Tyler Glenn (lead vocals), Chris Allen (guitar), Brandon Campbell (bass guitar), Elaine Bradley, who is also 8 months pregnant! (drums), and David Charles (guitar). Originally from Provo, UT, the band reached their commercial breakthrough with their first album, Habits, in 2010. Their second album, Picture Show, was released in 2012, and shortly afterward the band decided to halt their tour while Tyler dealt with somewhat of a breakdown. Once the band came back the next year however, they were better than ever with their album Pop Psychology, and have been rocking the stages since.
Neon Trees has gone on to tour with Thirty Seconds to Mars, Duran Duran, The Killers, and Maroon 5, and this tour, entitled “An Intimate Night Out” is all their own. The band opened up with their newest single, “Songs I Can’t Listen To”, which brought the crowd to full attention. Tyler donned a gold metallic jacket as he danced on his toes and kicked high to the heavens throughout the songs. The band played a mixture of songs from all three of their albums, including hits “Animal”, “Surrender”, “1983”, “Moving In The Dark”, “Sleeping With A Friend”, “Lessons in Love”, and to close out the show, “Everybody Talks”.
About halfway throughout the show, Tyler sat on the edge of the stage to talk to the fans, and the dialog left the crowd reaching their hearts out. He spoke out about being a “very depressed, very strange kid who was in the closet for a really long time”, and how seeing the face of each and every audience member reacting to the music truly affects him. It was refreshing to see a band that deeply appreciates the support of their followers, and I always respect an artist more when they reach out to the people who helped them achieve the success that they have had along the way. Neon Trees is definitely a band worth seeing live. Their infectious energy will have you up dancing, no matter how old you are, because their music transcends age and instead drives right to the soul with pure emotion and experience.
