Intervista con i Palisades dopo l’esibizione al Warped Tour a Orlando

Formatisi nel 2011, i Palisades sono un gruppo post-hardcore / EDM di Iselin, New Jersey. Con un suono che per melodia e grinta si avvicina a band quali Deftones, i Palisades riescono ad essere aggressivi ma piacevolmente accessibili. I membri della band sono: Louis Miceli alla voce, Matt Marshall alla chitarra, Xavier Adams alla chitarra e voce, Earl Halasan alla chitarra e programming, Brandon Reese al basso, e Aaron Rosa alla batteria.
Abbiamo raggiunto Earl Halasan al The Van’s Warped Tour a Orlando per una rapida intervista.
Come vi ha scoperti Rise Records?
Abbiamo registrato un EP e i nostri manager hanno inviato un’email alla Rise Records chiedendo loro di ascoltarlo e in 20 minuti ci hanno chiamato e detto che volevano parlare con noi per farci firmare con la loro etichetta.
Quanto è stato eccitante esibirsi al Warped Tour?
Molto, molto, molto eccitante. Era uno dei nostri sogni. Mi ricordo il momento in cui ci hanno comunicato che avremmo partecipato. Eravamo nel mezzo del deserto e abbiamo imboccato la prima uscita, saltando e gridando di gioia. Abbiamo chiamato i nostri genitori e i nostri amici, siamo andati al ristorante più vicino che era Applebee e abbiamo festeggiato.
E’ tutto come ve lo aspettavate?
Non voglio mentirti, è tutto ciò che ci aspettavamo e di più, ma è una vita molto dura. Siamo impegnati dalle 7 fino alle 20 quindi per 13 ore ogni giorno.

Sì, in generale
Vi racconto la mia esperienza più spaventosa. Eravamo in Little Rock Arkansas e stavamo caricando gli strumenti e i bagagli, quando dall’altra parte della strada ho sentito quelli che pensavo fossero fuochi d’artificio. Così ho continuato a fare quello che stavo facendo, fino a quando ho notato un gruppo di persone in fuga, allora mi sono detto non sono fuochi d’artificio; erano infatti colpi di pistola.
Era una sparatoria da auto in corsa?
Sì, e in pochi minuti è arrivata la polizia. C’era un tipo per terra, non era morto, si muoveva, ma gli avevano sparato.
A eventuali nuovi fans cosa volete far arrivare della vostra musica?
Io vorrei che non ci etichettassero. Anche se siamo su Vans Warped Tour ci sono un sacco di band eclettiche qui fuori. Mi piace pensare che siamo un mix di tutto questo. Se ti piace la musica, c’è qualcosa per tutti.
Ci sono artisti con cui ti piacerebbe lavorare?
Kanye West, ovviamente. Vogliamo raggiungere un sacco di rappers anche cantanti pop.
Qual è il prossimo impegno dopo il Warped?
Andremo in Giappone per un totale di 4 giorni nel mese di settembre. Oltre a ciò abbiamo un tour autunnale ma, non possiamo rivelare niente.Palisades sono in uscita con un nuovo album su iTunes dal titolo”Mind Games”.

Warped Tour di Van è il più grande festival di musica itinerante negli Stati Uniti dal 1995.
Negli anni il tour ha viaggiato per l’Europa. La data finale di quest’anno porterà il Warped Tour a Londra il 18 ottobre 2015.

With a sound that channels the melody and fury of bands like the Deftones into a crunching, breakdown-heavy sound, they create a sound that doesn’t sacrifice accessibility in its pursuit of aggression. Band members include: Louis Miceli on vocals, Matt Marshall on guitar, Xavier Adams on guitar and vocals, Earl Halasan on guitar and programming, Brandon Reese on bass, and Aaron Rosa on Drums.
We caught up with Earl Halasan at The Vans Warped Tour in Orlando for a quick interview.
How did Rise Records discover you?
It was was a little bit of a process. We recorded an EP and our managers sent an email to Rise Records asking them to check it out and within like 20 minutes they called us and said lets talk about signing you to the label.
How excited were you guys to head out on Warped Tour?
Very, very, very excited. It has all been a huge dream of ours. I remember when we got the phone call that we were doing it. We were in the middle of the desert and pulled off at the first exit, ran out and started jumping around and celebrating. Called our parents and everything. We went out to the closest restaurant which was Applebee’s and celebrated.
Is it all you expected?
I’m not going to lie to you, it is all that we expected and more, but in hard way. Like I thought wake up, this is summer camp, play when we are supposed to play but, we are actually very busy from 7am until about 8pm so it’s like a 13 hour day every day.
Do you have any crazy stories from the road?
In general or Warped Tour?
Yes, in general
I will tell you my most frightening experience ever. We were in Little Rock Arkansas and we were loading up and across the street. I hear what I thought were fireworks. So I just going on loading until I notice a bunch of people running away then I was like, ok you got it, it wasn’t fireworks, it was gun shots like 30 feet away.
Was it a drive by?
Yes it was a drive by. Within minutes police were there. There was a guy laying there. He wasn’t dead, he was moving, but he was shot. Right after that was just packed up our stuff and just left.
If you could reach out to new fans what would you want them to know about your music?
I would want them to know that we don’t want to be pigeonholed. Although we are on Vans Warped Tour there are a lot of eclectic bands out here. I like to think we are a mix of all that. If you like music, there is something in it for everybody.
Are there any artists you would love to work with?
There is a whole gamete of artists. Kanye West, obviously. We would like to reach out to a lot of rappers even pop singers.
What is next for you after Warped?
We are going to Japan for a total of 4 days in September. Beyond that we have a fall tour but, we can’t disclose that ye,t but be on the look out for us in the fall.
